Spirit
of Poland |
|
7-day tour of
Poland's best spirits, mead & beer |
|
Poland knows vodka, history,
and geography ("Absolutely" much better then the Swedes). Vodka
was first produced in Poland and
with distilleries in continuous operation for over 200 years,
the quality (and quantity) Poland produces is taken very seriously,
and preferably neat. Now, for the first time and through a
very special arrangement, the distilleries of
Chopin,
Żubrówka,
Łańcut, and others
have agreed to open
their doors (and tasting rooms) to the public on our tour. You'll follow the process from start to finish to tasting. To
expand your palate we've added visits to the mazers (mead makers)
Jaros and APIS, where they produce exotic and hard to find real mead, not mislabeled honey
wine masquerading as mead. And no time in Poland would be complete without
stopping by the Warka brewery for some rich Polish
beer, an original style that evolved from it's first production in
the 10th century. Bring questions, curiosity, and a thirst for the
best. And when you're not enjoying Polish spirits, enjoy
Polish hospitality as you explore the cities of Warsaw, Lublin,
Lancut, and Krakow with their history, restaurants, cafes and pubs. |

Art of Mead
Making |
|
7-days in Poland
with 5-days of classroom and hands-on learning. |
|
Honey, water, and yeast is all it takes to make
mead. Simple, until you try to make it yourself and then you
realize how sensitive and labor intensive it really is. Unless you
have a friendly neighborhood mazer, you're condemned to reading a
book and learning through trial and error, lots of error. But
now there's an opportunity to learn the art of the mazer from the
people who know mead. The Association of Farming Schools at
Pszczela Wola have been teaching the art of mead making to
generations of mazers and are now offering an intensive weeklong adult
education workshop in mead making. Created for home-brewers,
micro-brewers, vintners, and honey producers looking to diversify, this
intensive program is a mixture of hands-on experience and classroom learning.
